G'day

Welcome to my blog, thanks for stopping by - I hope you enjoy your stay :)

I guess I should start with an introduction and a

what it's all about??? ...

My name's Paul - but on here and in various other places - I'm known as Womble. To save you asking, it's a nickname from my uni days - it matches my physique and a dodgy haircut I had at the time. The hair has changed a little - unfortunately the physique is still much the same.

I live in Canberra, the exciting capital city of Australia and work as a public servant. I've moved around a bit over the years but haven't been overseas yet, hopefully one day - if I can get my finances sorted out - I'll get to see the world I would like to change. That's why I'm here.

Let me explain - I'm a mug punter. Punting is in my blood, my father punted, generations previously punted - so much so, that rumour has it we actually changed our name as a result of the unsuccessful punting of a relative in the dark and distant past. I'll have to confirm that one day - apparently he had something to do with Sweden - any nice Swedish girls out there want to help me discover my roots??? ;)

Anyways, starting from buying Lucky Envelops as a kid growing up in Armidale NSW - I've been hooked for years (I'm now 38). Unfortunately, most of those years have been losing years. I've tried what seems like a thousand systems all with no success. Some good, some bad, some worked, some didn't. Overall though, I never really stuck solid with them long enough to make them pay.

That's why I'm here.

I believe that it's possible to make money on the punt, I know people that do it - I want to become of those people. I have the knowledge to achieve this goal - I know what I have been doing wrong all this time, it's really quite simple - there's just 2 little things

1 - I bet too often, I would have told myself a million times - "you can't win betting on every race" - but still do.

And

2 - Money management - I'm crap with money, I can't save - I spend. Same when I bet - I don't budget, stick to staking plans etc - I just go for it, and as a result, normally lose.

So they are the 2 little things I need to fix - once again, that's why I'm here.

My plan is to establish 2 small betting banks - $100 in each - on Thursday (13 November 2008) when I get paid (possibly with one more to follow next month). This is my starting point. From there, I'll use one of the banks for betting on the horses, dogs and trots. The other for betting on sport. I'll use a simple % of the bank approach and hopefully build them into something well and truly worthwhile. My dream is to make $1000pw on the punt, quit my job - move bush and do it for a living (and then, down the track a bit, change the world). Not easy, but achievable - if I stick to the plan!!!

Why are you here??? I'm not sure to be honest - curious maybe, wondered what it was all about??? Either way, I'm hoping you'll drop back in and watch my progress - maybe even cheer me on or possibly just tell me I'm an idiot for trying. What's in it for you??? Hopefully I'll provide a little entertainment on the way through and possibly even tip you, if you're interested, into a winner or two. The intention is to post every bet on here for you all to see - you will be my witnesses - you will either see me crash and burn or make a go of it. Fingers crossed it's the later.

So Thursday's the day, the day it all begins - in the mean time I'll try and pretty this place up a bit, add some more information, ideas and the like, as well as, prepare myself for the challenge. Thanks for dropping by, I hope you'll be back. Feel free to say g'day and I'll do my best to reply.

Cheers
