Lucky I choose Sydney for the ratings challenge as the only value winner I found was in the last race there. So a loss for the day but luckily a small profit in Sydney to close the gap in the ratings challenge, I'll post the scores once they are confirmed.
It's frustrating not getting consistent results but I guess that's typical of punting - I'll push on and see where I'm at when the season winds up on 31 July

Racing rules - footy flops
Morning All,
Not too bad a day yesterday with a couple of good value winners from the 8 rated races and also a very nice quinella / exacta. Footy was a flop though with only one correct and more thinking to be done.
Yesterdays winners were
Rampant Lion at $24.60 rated at $7.30
and
Russeting at $10.40 rated at $7.90
And the figures - just overall as I didn't rate Melbourne (sorry again)

Footy wise, well done Swannies - I should've backed them instead, they definitely have it all over Carlton. Alas, I picked the Hawks who lost to Port and the Lions who got beat by the Pies, both major upsets. My only winner in the AFL was the Cats who look very hard to beat at the moment. In the league, the Titans beat the Raiders by 6, I needed 8.5 and the Knights rolled the Dragons who led them and got run down.
Definitely need to rethink the footy bets.

Time for a little go at the footy
Morning All,
With both the rugby league and Aussie rules seasons well underway now and the form starting to take a bit better shape I've decided to have a little bet. That's all it is though, just an interest bet in the hope of a result and the start of a bank being built.
I've gone a multiple that'll be all done after Saturday night so that I can hopefully reinvest the winnings on Sunday. So the bet, a Super Yankee - 5 legs made up of 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 quartets and one 5 play - $26 outlay for 1 unit, any 2 winners get me a collect all 5 would turn my $26 into $172 or so.

Hawks -23 vs Power
Cats -22 vs Crows
In the Aussie rules
Titans -8.5 vs Raiders (sorry Raiders)
Dragons -6 vs Knights

From the best day to the worst :(

Well that was a bit of a disaster - the ratings just couldn't get going yesterday. There a few that won that I had unders and a few that just missed at good odds running seconds and thirds. It's all very frustrating but hopefully it'll work out ok in the end.

Lots of good racing today and plenty of work still to do. So far I've rated the 4 races at Oakbank for the ratings challenge (plus race 5 by mistake) and the card at Randwick. I've still got 7 races to do from Caulfield, I won't rate the first as it's a 2yo - they will hopefully be done by before race 2 jumps.

Week one of the Ausrace Ratings Challenge
Hey All,
Just wanted to drop in and update the scores for week 1 of the ratings challenge

So I'm off to a decent start :)
Will be interesting this Saturday as it looks like we'll be tipping at Oakbank - it's normally a track only raced on for a massive Easter carnival of jumps and flat racing and is over in South Australia.
I'll have to do a bit of extra work!!!

Race 7 is the Golden Slipper - a 2 yo dash that's been going 50 + years (I think). A lot of people hate it because they think 2yo's aren't ready for a race with so much pressure so early in their careers. They could be right because not many go on to bigger things but hey with $3.5 million for first you have to have a crack if you have one good enough.
Heavy track at Rosehill makes it difficult, especially with the babies but we'll see how we go.
