Melbourne vs Sydney

Morning All,

Interesting day again yesterday - a loss overall but it was all because of Sydney - in Melbourne I rated 6 races and found 4 value winners, in Sydney it was 7 races and squat. This got me thinking a little and as a result this week I've broken the results in two - Overall and Melbourne Only, the Melbourne Only figures being MUCH better.

Overall Results

Yesterday

Out - $642
In - $591
Loss - $51
Quinella - $25 profit
Exacta - $49 profit
Trifecta - $918 profit

Overall

Out - $4697
In - $4294
Loss - $404 (LOT 8.6%)
Quinella - $116 profit (POT 13.2%)
Exacta - $93 profit (POT 5.31%)
Trifecta - $16 loss (LOT 0.3%)

Melbourne Only

Yesteday

Out - $268
In - $591
Profit - $323
Quinella - $87 profit
Exacta - $167 profit
Trifecta - $1338 profit

Overall

Out - $3553
In - $3849
Profit - $297 (POT 8.36%)
Quinella - $271 (POT 41.12%)
Exacta - $413 (POT 31.25%)
Trifecta - $1304 (POT 32.92%)

I'm not sure why I'm doing so much better in Melbourne, maybe it's because that's what the system was originally designed for or maybe it's that there is a bigger pool of results. I'll break it down throughout April and see what happens - obviously I'm hoping Sydney will pick up and Melbourne will hold up so that I end up winning overall.

On a side note, and quite an exciting one (for me at any rate) - I'm taking part in a 12 week rating challenge on an email racing list I subscribe to called Ausrace. There are 6 of us taking part with a buy in of $200 - winner take all. Now it would be nice if it was just Melbourne but it's 4 races per week from any of the 10 or so venues available. Looking at my figures it's hard to see how I could win BUT with a little luck things could go my way so I took the punt, $1000 would be the perfect betting bank for next season. If nothing else it should be a great learning experience.

So it's a big 12 weeks coming up, fingers crossed for some good results.

Have a great week
